SWEPCO COVID-19 Update #2

March 16, 2020

SWEPCO Customer Information:

  • SWEPCO is adapting operations across the company as we continue to provide electric service to customers during the pandemic.
  • We are taking steps to ensure that all of our generation, transmission, distribution and business personnel stay healthy and ready to serve customers. This includes practicing social distancing in all work activities and locations, working from home as responsibilities allow, regularly cleaning and disinfecting work locations, restricting business travel and meetings, and limiting visitor access to SWEPCO facilities. We continue to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health department guidance in consultation with our company doctors, and we are providing information and updates to employees.
  • SWEPCO is temporarily suspending all disconnections of service for non-payment. We know our customers are concerned about their families, and ensuring they have reliable electric service allows them to focus on staying healthy and well. We are committed to doing what we can to help our customers, our employees and the communities we serve navigate this uncertain time. We urge customers to make every effort to keep their accounts current during the period when disconnections are suspended. If customers anticipate problems paying their electric bills, please contact SWEPCO to discuss payment options.

Shreveport Update:

  • A SWEPCO Shreveport General Office employee diagnosed with COVID-19 remains quarantined at home and is recovering. Louisiana Department of Health officials said SWEPCO employees who did not have close contact with the employee with COVID-19 may return to work at the office. SWEPCO employees who had close contact with the employee diagnosed with COVID-19 have been given instructions from the state health departments to self-quarantine for 14 days since their last contact.
  • The downtown Shreveport payment center located at 428 Travis Street, which handles payments for all local utilities, is open. The payment center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
