SWEPCO continues its Ways to Save video series with an in-depth look at the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) this week.
Each Tuesday, ArkLaTex residents can learn proven tips, incentives, and programs that can help them learn how to reduce energy consumption and save money on KTBS.
This week’s segment features Paul Pratt, SWEPCO’s director of Customer Services and Marketing, and Regina Lawrence, LIHEAP coordinator with Caddo Community Action, who explain the benefits of LIHEAP and how Louisiana residents can apply for assistance through the program.
Louisianians can get help to pay summer cooling bills now through September 30, or until funds are depleted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lawrence said there are several ways for residents to apply.
“Right now, you can call one of our offices for an appointment,” she said. “If you have a disconnect notice, then they can walk into the office to do an application.”
Pratt said SWEPCO wants to make it easier for customers to find information about the federal program whether they reside in Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas.
“The dollar does not go as far as it used to and you feel that at the gas pump and the grocery store and you certainly feel it with your utility bill as well,” he said.
