SWEPCO Offers a Gift of Giving This Holiday Season

December 3, 2024

As the holiday season draws near, many individuals and families look for meaningful ways to give back to their loved ones and communities. Southwestern Electric Power Company’s latest segment of the "Ways to Save" video series shines a spotlight on two programs that embody the spirit of giving on this Giving Tuesday: the Friends & Family Direct program and the Neighbor to Neighbor Program.

Friends and Family Direct: A Simple Yet Impactful Gift

Every Tuesday, ArkLaTex residents can catch the program on KTBS, where they learn valuable tips, incentives, and programs aimed at reducing energy consumption and saving money. This week’s segment features SWEPCO Customer Operations Supervisor Criss Warren and Vice President of External Affairs William Bradford

The Friends & Family Direct program allows SWEPCO customers to pay a portion or the entirety of someone else's electric bill, Warren said.

"It's a simple, meaningful gift that can truly make a difference in someone's life," she shared.

During the holiday season, when many are seeking ways to support their loved ones, this program offers a perfect opportunity to extend a helping hand. Interested participants can fill out a form online at SWEPCO.com/DirectGift or mail their completed forms to:

KTBS' Jan Elkins talks with SWEPCO's Criss Warren and William Bradford about two SWEPCO programs that embody the spirit of giving.

Neighbor to Neighbor Program: Supporting Those in Need

The Neighbor to Neighbor Program can be especially crucial during the holiday season when families often face additional financial burdens. This program, administered by the Dollar Energy Fund, provides utility assistance grants directly applied to eligible customers' bills.

"It’s important to help those experiencing financial hardships get back on their feet," Warren said.

Individuals interested in contributing can easily sign up for a monthly donation on their bill.

"It’s very easy to do. You can contribute an amount of your choice along with your monthly electric bill. Just a few dollars can go a long way,” she said.

Community Response and the Spirit of Giving

Bradford said the community's response to these programs has been overwhelmingly positive.

“It’s an opportunity for our customers to help their friends or family and neighbors,” he said. “There are numerous heartfelt stories from customers on their ability to participate in this program. It reinforces our message of light their world, warm their hearts.”

This holiday season, consider making a difference through SWEPCO's programs. Whether you choose to help a friend or family member with their electric bill or contribute to those in need, your generosity can illuminate lives and foster a stronger sense of community. Happy holidays!
