SWEPCO crews, in concert with other utility professionals, worked to rebuild key infrastructure and restore power to customers in Northwest Arkansas. We’ve made progress and this massive rebuilding effort continues to repower our remaining 3,500 customers.
For those properties that can receive power, crews estimate 95% should be restored by 10 p.m. Sunday, weather permitting. A significant milestone was reached Friday night as SWEPCO restored power to 95 percent of customers east of 71B in Rogers. In response to the extensive damage, we are consolidating our crews to concentrate on the hardest-hit areas, including Monte Ne, Arkansas, and the severely impacted regions of midtown and downtown Rogers. Our team is united in our commitment to helping rebuild the communities we call home and to supporting our customers by restoring their power as quickly and safely as possible.
Customers will begin receiving more specific individual restoration times for their properties. To receive property-specific mobile alerts, customers are encouraged to subscribe to the feature here or log into their online account to check for personalized restoration times. Please note that estimated restoration times may change based on weather and other factors.
Recent rain in the Rogers area has delayed some progress.
The restoration work in the area involves complex and labor-intensive repairs. Our crews are tasked with clearing hundreds of downed trees to safely access over 750 unique work locations. This includes replacing approximately 400 broken utility poles, restringing more than 10 miles of electrical wire and replacing over 100 transformers. As of Saturday morning, June 1, SWEPCO reports show restoration to approximately 15,400 Northwest Arkansas customers.
Please remember, extensive repairs take time, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to restore power to everyone.
Special thanks to all local officials, first responders, and the Arkansas National Guard for their collaboration and support and ensuring our crews can work safely and
efficiently. Since Thursday, SWEPCO has been coordinating with the Arkansas National Guard to assist line crews with flagging and traffic control.
To ensure the safety of both our crews and the public, customers are urged to avoid areas where work is underway, not drive past flagged or coned zones, and refrain from approaching crews while they work.
Please note that some storm restoration debris will be left behind temporarily until pick-up activities can be scheduled following the completion of the restoration efforts.
SWEPCO remains committed to restoring power to all affected customers and appreciates the continued support and cooperation from the community.
Now is the time for customers to determine whether their home can receive power - SWEPCO cannot connect power to a home or business if there is damage to the service entrance, which is owned by the customer. Customers must have a licensed electrician repair damage before power can be restored. Click for a flyer in English & Spanish.
