Jason Agee Named Plant Manager at Turk Power Plant

June 12, 2024

Jason Agee has been named plant manager at Turk Power Plant.

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Agee as the new plant manager for John W. Turk Jr. Power Plant, a 650 MW rated ultra supercritical coal-fired plant located near Fulton, Ark. Agee will report to Monte McMahon, Vice President, Generating Assets, and will be responsible for overseeing the managerial, financial, environmental, and safety performance of these facilities. Agee steps into the role following the July 1 retirement of longtime Turk Power Plant Manager Tim Gross, who had served at the plant since its construction and led the effort when it came online in 2012.

“Jason’s career, background and training, uniquely qualifies him for this role,” said McMahon. “Jason brings a commitment to our culture and the customers we serve. I’m delighted to see him progress to this role and look forward to having him take the helm.”

Agee is a familiar face at Turk and has held increasing roles of responsibility there since he joined SWEPCO as a process system owner in 2012. Most recently, Agee has been a member of the plant’s leadership team as the energy production superintendent, a role he’s been in since 2022.

Brett Mattison, Chief Operating Officer of SWEPCO, commented, "Jason’s leadership and dedication to excellence have consistently driven improvements across our operations. His new role as plant manager for this essential plant is a testament to his capabilities and the trust we place in him. We are confident that under his guidance, these facilities will continue to operate at the highest standards."

Agee served honorably in the U.S. Navy where he worked as an electronics technician and nuclear reactor operator. He joined AEP’s Cook Nuclear Power Plant in 1999, and in 2008, he transitioned to support AEP’s new generation construction, including helping to construct Turk.

Agee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Technology from Siena Heights University in Michigan.

SWEPCO is committed to maintaining a diverse generation portfolio that includes natural gas, coal and wind. This balanced energy mix not only enhances grid reliability but also supports the company’s dedication to sustainable and environmentally responsible energy generation.
