Subscribe To RSS Feed

If you wish to be notified as soon as possible after Southwestern Electric Power Company issues a news release, Southwestern Electric Power Company offers an RSS 2.0 feed of its releases. Many journalists and other RSS users find these feeds quicker and more effective information sources than e-mail notification.

What Is RSS

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML format for sharing updated web content, like news releases. An RSS feed or channel provides a list of items, with a headline, description, and link to the full web page for each item. An RSS news or feed reader aggregates this content and allows you to quickly and easily review those feeds you have subscribed to.

How do I subscribe?

First, you'll need an RSS reader to view and manage your subscriptions. There are many different readers available, and many of them are free. Three popular readers are:

The Open Directory project also maintains a larger list of RSS readers. The listing also includes options for Mac users.

After setting up your RSS reader, you can subscribe to feeds by copying the location (URL) of the feed into the reader. To do this:

  • Copy the URL to your computer's clipboard (in most browsers, right-click on the feed icon and select "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location"), then
  • Paste the URL into the RSS reader, where it asks for the location of the feed or service you wish to subscribe to (see the instructions for your RSS reader).

Your RSS reader will automatically check our feed to see if any additions have been made.
