COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 28, 2011 – American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) is seeking offers for the supply of Powder River Basin coal to one or more of its generating stations.

AEP is seeking spot-coal delivery proposals for 1) up to 0.5 million tons of Powder River Basin coal beginning July 1, 2011, for a period of six months, delivered by rail 2) up to 5 million tons of Powder River Basin coal beginning Jan. 1, 2012, for a period of one year, delivered by rail and/or 3) up to 4 million tons of Powder River Basin coal beginning Jan. 1, 2013, for a period of one year, delivered by rail. AEP is open to alternative pricing structures or other innovative, value-added concepts. Proposals with alternative terms will be accepted. Accepted bids will be at AEP’s discretion.
