SWEPCO Employees Volunteer to Support Miracle League of East Texas

April 12, 2025

SWEPCO employees volunteered as buddies during Miracle League of East Texas' first games of the season on April 12 at Lear Park in Longview, Texas. Several volunteers included members of SWEPCO's own softball team in Longview -- The Day Burners.

Longview, Texas – April 12, 2025 – Today, Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) employees took to the field as enthusiastic volunteers at the Miracle League of East Texas’s opening game of the season at Lear Park in Longview.  SWEPCO employees volunteered as "Buddies" during the game, helping special needs children and ensuring they had a fantastic time. Their involvement highlighted the importance of community efforts in creating joyful experiences for all children.

Mark Robinson, SWEPCO's External Affairs Manager, expressed his pride, saying, “We were excited to see our employees getting involved and supporting the Miracle League. Watching the kids enjoy baseball and make lasting memories was truly special.”

The Miracle League is dedicated to providing children with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball in an inclusive and supportive environment. With the hard work of the founding Board of Directors and community support, the Miracle League of East Texas has developed a fantastic facility at Lear Park Sports Complex.

Not only did the SWEPCO employees cheer on the players at the opening game, but they also presented a check representing a $3,000 grant from the SWEPCO Foundation to support scholarships for children with disabilities. The grant covers athlete scholarships, ensuring that every participating child receives a jersey, ball cap, and trophy at the end of the season.

Tesa Wilson from the Miracle League shared, “The support from the SWEPCO Foundation was incredible. Their support allows us to keep our mission alive, making baseball accessible for every child.”
