 Ways to Save with SWEPCO airs Tuesday morning between 5 and 7 a.m. 

In response to cost pressures faced by all Americans, SWEPCO is committed to helping its customers manage their utility bills with practical strategies and support programs.

Through a collaboration with KTBS, SWEPCO is developing a weekly series of video vignettes aimed at helping its customers save time, money and energy.

Recently, SWEPCO’s Rashawnda Dunbar, Customer Operations Manager, sat down with KTBS Community Projects Director Jan Elkins to share benefits of its Average Monthly Payment (AMP) Plan and other assistance options designed to ease the burden of high energy expenses.

"Our goal is to ensure that no customer feels overwhelmed by their energy bills,” said Rashawnda Dunbar, Customer Operations Manager at SWEPCO. “We are here to provide support and solutions."

Extreme weather conditions often lead to increased usage of air conditioners or heaters, resulting in higher energy bills.

To help customers manage these fluctuations, SWEPCO offers several strategies:

  1. Average Monthly Payment (AMP) Plan: This plan evens out payments throughout the year by calculating a 12-month rolling average of your bills. This approach minimizes the impact of seasonal spikes, making monthly payments more predictable. Most customers are eligible for the AMP Plan. To enroll, customers can visit SWEPCO’s website at SWEPCO.com/AMP.
  2. Payment Plans: For customers who have fallen behind on their bills, setting up a payment arrangement can be a practical solution. SWEPCO's phone representatives can provide details tailored to each situation.
  3. Assistance Programs: SWEPCO partners with government agencies and non-profits to assist low-income households with utility bills. Programs like the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) are available to those who qualify. Customers can go to SWEPCO’s website and complete a short survey to find available help.
