Several SWEPCO employees were recently recognized during the Rogers Lowell Chamber Annual Celebration on March 13. Members of SWEPCO's storm response team were acknowledged for their exceptional dedication and hard work in following the devastating tornados that impacted the community last May.
The Spirit Award was presented to all those who responded to the disaster, acknowledging the countless individuals who contributed to the recovery efforts. SWEPCO played a vital role in this response, sending teams of skilled professionals who worked tirelessly to ensure that power was restored to affected residents and businesses.
In attendance were SWEPCO representatives, including Sr. Lineman Sandy Dugan, Troubleman Drexal Kell, Troubleman Heath Franklin, Distribution Systems Supervisor Troy Merle, CS Supervisor James Depew, Sr. Lineman Brandon Guyll, CSAR Evan Johnson, and CSAR Travis Ramey. Their presence on stage during the recognition ceremony highlighted the critical impact they made in the community's recovery.
“It was an honor to stand alongside my fellow team members and receive this recognition,” said CS Supervisor James Depew. “We are proud to serve our community, and it means a lot to be acknowledged for our efforts in restoring power and helping our neighbors during such a challenging time.”
The Rogers Lowell Chamber chose to make a donation to the local Parks Department in honor of the Spirit Award recipients, aimed at replenishing the tree canopies that were lost during the tornados. This gesture reflects the community's commitment to recovery and rebuilding.
The Annual Celebration serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience of the Rogers community, as well as the importance of teamwork in overcoming adversity. SWEPCO's commitment to service, especially during emergencies, exemplifies the dedication of those who work behind the scenes to ensure the well-being of the community.
